France: The Huguenot Tradition

May 15 to 23, 2017

Bourdeaux de loin

Much of Huguenot history is tucked away in towns and villages in southern France where isolation provided relative safety in periods of warfare and segregation, towns that are among the most picturesque in the entire country. In this eight-night program we start in Lyon, make our way in our private minibus through the villages of Drôme, and the small cities of Avignon, Arles, Aigues-Mortes and Aix-en-Provence. We end in Marseille, France's second largest city, with its beautiful port on the Mediterranean Sea and a history dating from the ancient Greeks. Assistance is available to explore family ties to the region. Departure is from the Marseille airport or via direct, high-speed train connection to the airports of Lyon or Paris.

Italy: From Rome to Piedmont

June 22 to July 1, 2017

Roma Fontana Trevi di notte Cinque Terre baia

Italy: The Waldensian Valleys

June 30 to July 8, 2017

In this eight-night program we explore the villages, fields and trails that were the homeland for the Waldensian people of Piedmont. Our minibus takes us to the mountains where Waldenses lived and worked for centuries, a tiny region that was both a refuge from persecution and the ghetto where they were constrained until their civil emancipation in 1848. We visit museums and sites with ties to the Waldensian people from the late Middle Ages, and enjoy trails and views of the mountains. Assistance is available to explore family ties to the area. Arrival and departure at Turin.
